While attending Claflin University in the pursuit of obtaining duel BA's in the field of journalism and sociology, my off times was spent in the middle schools of Orangeburg, SC for nearly six years. I spent 4-5 hours in the classroom (daily) as an assistant and tutor/mentor in language arts classes grades 6-8. Personally, I am dyslexic and despite my learning differences I was able to attend law school and pass the South Carolina Bar exam. During my first year of teaching I was disappointed to learn how little time and energy is given to students who learn differently.
