A Little Bit About Me...

I have earned two bachelor degrees, BS in Philosophy and BS in Horticulture Management. I also have two minors, Business and Logic. I have worked as a Teaching Assistant and Research Assistant throughout my undergraduate education. I have presented my research at a conference in New York. Exceptional communicator with extensive professional experience training organizational representatives at various levels as well as volunteer experience mentoring at-risk youth.

I have worked with students of all ages and in all different subject areas. I have recently completed a semester of student teaching in a kindergarten class where I worked with the students on reading and writing skills. I have also worked with older students including an adult with learning disabilities. I have taken and passed seven AP tests: Biology, Calculus, Government, English, Physics, Economics, and Spanish. With a Master's degree in counseling, I have had various experience working with youth on a clinical level. Before going into counseling I was on track to become a high school math teacher. I have taken courses up through Calculus III and Number Theory. I feel very capable in this area. I also am an avid and good creative and technical writer. A Little Bit About Me...

As a recent graduate of BYU in Business Management (finance emphasis) I have been able to show excellence in my own school work. I have a major GPA of 3.85 (including many Accounting and Finance classes) as well as receiving a 4.0 while taking the “finance core” classes. Receiving a score of “5” on both the Calculus AB and BC tests during high school prepared me for college. Previous tutoring includes training new workers for employment positions (including a customer service representative and a restaurant position). While serving a 2-year mission for the LDS church I was able to train other missionaries. Much of this training included a personalized one-on-one teaching of how to approach, teach, and perform the necessary work.

I believe that the best way to learn is to have someone discover for themself or find a way to teach themselves the concept. That way, the knowledge will mean much more than if someone just tells them the answer, or tells the student how to do the problem. In tutoring, I help guide the child to what they need to be doing without giving them the answer or spelling it out too much for them. I also have a way of making learning hands-on and am a very visual person, so I will come up with visual representations to help the student learn better.
