I think good class materials, sufficient examples and explanations are important for effective learning. I believe it is the responsibility of the teacher to tutor students in an interesting and engaging manner. The teaching should show the elegance and beauty of the subject as well as its applicability to solve concrete and real world problems. Teaching is not just instructing or imparting information to students, but it is meant to empower students to take responsibility for their learning. Working with/helping children is my passion. I believe that all children are capable of succeeding in life if given the proper tools and/or guidance. Most of my career experience has been in News-Editorial and creative writing. As my daughter and son (now young adults) have grown and matured, I have been involved at several levels and in various paid and volunteer capacities as teacher, assistant/aide, and tutor. My substitute teaching experience primarily has been in the subjects of English, social studies, music, math, and art.
