My comments on tutoring American History : One of my favorite subjects in school. Still read about it constantly.

Very relaxed and encouraging. I use quite a bit of discussion, and I like to ask students questions that lead them down the path to help them discover the answers they seek. I have found that information is better retained if one can guide the student to the conclusion that they seek, building upon the knowledge that is already there. One of my favorite thing is watching stidents' faces when they have the "Aha!" Moments.

I have a Master's in Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting and Finance, as well as a current CPA license issued by the State of Texas. I have taught managerial accounting at UT Tyler. In addition to this, I taught high school US History, World Geography, Economics and AP Microeconomics for five years. I believe children today are shortchanged by our educational system. Kids need people who hold them to high standards rather than minimums. They need to feel like people believe they are worthy of success and able to attain it rather than being given built-in excuses. Therefore, my teaching style is to hold students to a high level of proficiency. I work with students in a way that builds their confidence and makes them feel like they know things others don't. There is a real "edge" that they feel when they think they might actually be "one of the smart ones" after all and it breeds both an interest and an ambition to be better.
