I recently graduated with my Masters in Secondary English Education from Rivier University. I taught literacy to adults with special needs for two years, and I've been working as a substitute teacher at a high school since January. With an undergraduate and graduate background in English, I have developed a proficient grasp of the English language. Because of the unique style of education I have received, my idea of a great teacher is one who functions more as a mentor, working with the student through socratic dialogue and experiential exersizes. A tutor should not only help the student to progress academically in the subject area of focus, but to ignite the students passion for the subject so they will thrive independently after the sessions are over.
