I'm patient and listen to the student to see what they get and don't get about the premise of the lesson. Then we get to it. Careful reinforcement of the Correct method will ensure Remembrance and Results. Also, Lessons must be approached within the context of the Big Picture. Students need to realize that there are no pointless or forgettable sections. Basically, communication is key followed by practice, reinforcement, more practice. When I entered my University, I was asked by the department of Chemistry if I would like to tutor students in General Chemistry. I accepted the responsibility, and started to tutor many of my fellow students in such topics as atomic bonding theory, dimensional analysis, reactions, etc. As time when on, I was ask to tutor for Organic Chemistry 1 as well.
