Experience Summary
I have 9 years of experience in teaching chemistry and physics at the high school level. Additionally, extensive experience teaching/tutoring a myriad of other subjects, such as, earth science, algebra, trigonometry, biology, CPR/first aid, GED prep and various adult education classes.
I also have 15 years of practical laboratory experience as a laboratory chemist with increasing levels of responsibility.
Teaching Style
To teach is to "impart knowledge or skill to somebody by instruction or example" while education is defined as "to develop mentally, morally, or aesthetically especially by instruction". I aspire to be an educator, as defined above. While I believe in the content of the sciences, I am interested in evoking the thought process to utilize the scientific method as a problem solving technique applicable to all areas of life. Through life, didactic specifics of chemistry may wane, but the development of thought PROCESS -- that, to me, is true education. On a personal level, I use humor and positive energy that reinforces my strong belief that everyone has the ability and the right to learn.
