I am currently teaching first-year composition as a graduate student at the University of Cincinnati. I have been teaching at UC for two academic years and will graduate with my MA degree in June 2010. I teach and design freshman and sophomore level writing courses independently as a graduate teacher. I have taken the Praxxis English exam and can provide test scores upon request. As an undergraduate, I completed two years of elementary education coursework, including educational psychology and educational technology. As a parent of middle school students, I understand the importance of motivating students by using real world examples and providing hands-on experiences. I enjoy working one-one-one with students, learning their strengths, and using those to have fun and make meaningful progress on the curriculum. Because of my professional background, I believe in basing study on solid principles such as methodology, repetition, and use of the scientific method to help the student retain the concepts in the long term.
