I am believer in providing a bottom-up approach to mathematics. I first present a difficult problem to the student to find where their current level of expertise lies. Once I identify potential issues the student is having, I break the difficult problem into smaller problems which are easier to handle. I believe students need to start with easy problems, multiple examples, and heavy guidance. Then, I provide increasingly difficult problems until an abstract concept is obtained without my assistance. I encourage students to teach me concepts themselves, so they can put the problem into their own words by explaining it to me.
