Deep understanding of math concepts

I usually start a topic by proposing a problem and making the student minds to think and naturally bringing up the concepts in the topic. Then I elaborate to explain the topic, usually drawing graphs, diagrams, etc. if necessary. To learn a specific skill, for example in Algebra or Calculus, I usually apply and explain the procedure for a few simple example and then explain the technique as a general procedure.
I am a math PhD student at Michigan State University with experience of teaching Calculus for 8 consecutive semester. Before that, back in my home, I have been teaching Algebra, Geometry and Discrete Math to high school students for more than 6 years. I have also several years of experience in teaching math preparation courses for student mathematics olympiads to smart and talented students.

A Little Bit About Me...

I have had many experiences in education both during and after my college education. I have been put into many situations that have required using much of the curriculum content, classroom management, and lesson plan developing skills that I have acquired. I have a major in science, but I also have extensive mathematical skills due to the many math classes I have taken for my BS and while currently pursuing a Master's Degree in Accounting. I worked in the Math Department, as either a tutor or a Teaching Assistant, for the past three years. As a Teaching Assistant I led a 50 minute recitation of the material, graded materials, and kept records for my 30 students. As a tutor I helped MSU undergraduates learn key concepts and study for their upcoming exams. I worked in the Algebra room and the Calc I room. I helped out a little in the Calc II room, but I never had time, as a full time student myself, to review the material and refresh my memory, so I was much less helpful than I should have been.
I love teaching because I love passing on knowledge. I believe anyone can learn anything they want, it just takes us all different lengths of time and effort to achieve our educational goals.
