While achieving my Associates in Physics at South Texas College, I worked as a tutor in the Rio Grande Valley Area of South Texas. I tutored students at; Mary Hoge Elementry, Weslaco High School, and at all five remote locations belonging to South Texas College. The subjects I have tutored are various Math and Science subjects such as: Calculus I & II, Pre-Calculus, Trigonometry, Chemistry I, Algebra, College Algebra, Fundamentals of Mathematics, Developmental Math, Physics I & II. I have been teaching at the college level for 6 years, and I have 2 years of earlier experience at the middle school level as well. My BS in Electrical Engineering enables me to tutor effectively in math and science, and my PhD in Philosophy qualifies me for Science, History, and some writing help (I have published in peer-reviewed journals). I have often tutored privately for friends and family, and they tell me I do a very good job. I prefer one-on-one conversation in a question-and-answer format (Socratic method). However, sometimes a straightforward explanation is needed. For math tutoring, the best results come from working through problems step-by-step.
