"Half of knowledge is knowing where to find it."

Once while subbing, I entered a classroom where the students had been allowed to watch Jerry Springer on TV for the last two weeks. I couldn't let this continue, but I saw how emotional the class was about the show. I encouraged them to write their own talk show and told them we would perform it the next day. I find that connecting student's interest with the subject matter to be learned is the best way to teach.
After completing my undergraduate degree in English Literature at Florida State University, I worked as a substitute teacher in Hillsborough County for two years. In 2009, I completed my Master's Degree in Communication at University of South Florida while simultaneously employed at the Department of Special Education. I have been tutoring with Advanced Learners for 1 year and am currently an Adjunct Instructor of Public Speaking at HCC Dale Mabry.

I was a teaching assistant throughout high school. I graduated Magna Cum Laude and was inducted into Kappa Delta Pi. I was selected to teach intensive intervention and pursued my Master’s degree with a concentration in remedial reading. Eperienced results-based tutoring

I believe that the learner and instructor must work collaborative in order to be most effective. I truly believe in experiential learning as much as possible! However, sometimes this isn't always applicable. In others cases, I am a very visual person and like to teach with as many graphics and visuals as I can. A Little Bit About Me...

Not all people learn in the same manner. It's important to recognize clues that identify preferred learning styles and incorporate lesson plans accordingly. I believe in breaking things into its simplest form using analogies to help with learning and retention. I believe it is not only important to teach the curriculum, but to also relate the benefits of learning into (age appropriate) real-life lessons.
