After completing my undergraduate degree in English Literature at Florida State University, I worked as a substitute teacher in Hillsborough County for two years. In 2009, I completed my Master's Degree in Communication at University of South Florida while simultaneously employed at the Department of Special Education. I have been tutoring with Advanced Learners for 1 year and am currently an Adjunct Instructor of Public Speaking at HCC Dale Mabry.
Once while subbing, I entered a classroom where the students had been allowed to watch Jerry Springer on TV for the last two weeks. I couldn't let this continue, but I saw how emotional the class was about the show. I encouraged them to write their own talk show and told them we would perform it the next day. I find that connecting student's interest with the subject matter to be learned is the best way to teach.

There are so many different teaching styles and learning styles. As a tutor the teaching style is going to be dependent on the student's learning style. Not everyone can teach. I believe students can learn anything if they are hungry enough to learn it. I like to teach by example and also use hands-on learning techniques. The best way I would learn is by trying it myself, then I would allow a teacher or a coach show me where I need to improve, they then would show me how to correct the mistake. I have spent the last two years volunteering in youth ministry.
I am currently wrapping up my Master's degree in Ministry Leadership from Southeastern University. This degree covers everything from business and leadership, to organization.
