A Little Bit About Me...

I taught 3 years in college--Freshman English, Grammar Basics, Composition, Speech, Literature, Business Communications. Taught over 15 years (English, Pre-Algebra, Science, History, Literature, Reading) at junior high and high school level. I was a Trainer and Communications Specialist in an industrial environment (17 years.) Trainer, U.S. Army Reserve, 2 years. In addition to my BA, I have over 100 graduate hours of continuing education in English, Education, Special Education, Reading, Technical Writing, and Popular Culture. Young people learn through different ways and means. I try to discern the best method to instruct any particular student with whom I am tutoring at the time. I like to give examples of problems, and "problem solve" with the student through illustrative examples on paper or on the board. I encourage questions and feedback to ensure that the young person is indeed learning "how" to solve a problem, not simply to "get" a solution. A student's practical demonstration of problem solving is the best gauge to determine if that student is indeed learning or not. While giving instruction, I strive to be patient, accomodating and respectful of the student in need. I love to give encouragement and praise for any task or assignment done well!

A Little Bit About Me...

I have received degrees in Int'l Business from Lourdes College, as well an Associates Degree in Accounting from Owens Community College. While with the Ohio Air National Guard, participated in the Mentoring program with Township Elementary, Swanton Local Schools for five(5)-years. I enjoyed working with the students, helping those that needed a little extra attention. I enjoy reading, writing, learning new words, learning period. Math, science, grammer, writing, civics, are all areas where our future need some help and I want to help make a difference. This is a serious problem for us as a society and a nation.
