The Last Tutor You Will Ever Need!

Hello...I am a certified English teacher for grades 6-12 and have been a 7th grade teacher the last 11 years at Matoaca Middle School. Before that, I was the sole English teacher for grades 9-12 at Kenston Forest, a private school. In total, I have 16 years experience in a classroom. Every year, I offer small group tutoring and have worked for a company and an elementary school (separately) tutoring students. I am comfortable teaching all subject matter for students in grades 6 or lower.

A Little Bit About Me...

Interactive as well as practical 1st I teach the grammatical aspect 2nd put to practice the lesson by a) doing practical exercises and b) interactive (students will repeat pronounciations with me and then practice with each other in groups or with partners)I will go to each group and listen to them and make corrections if need be 3rd I will instruct a student individually during the practical exercises or group sessions when I feel a student is not capturing an aspect of a lesson (understanding, pronounciation or grammatical)
Teaching to me is a vocation and not just a job. I enjoy helping children achieve their peek potential in the subject matter at hand. Education has always been one of my greatest facinations. I achieved a BA in English grammars, a MLA in creative writing, and fifteen credits towards a PhD in literature and literary criticism. I discovered the writing center at my undergraduate university and became a tutor immediately. I found that I was in a position to learn just as much at the students I tutored. Over the past twelve years, I have continued that facination with learning in voluntary tutoring sessions.
I believe in the program of teaching across the curriculum. As a teacher to be, I believe that students are much more willing to participate in writing goood papers when it is in a subject that has meaning for them.
