Math, Science, Writing, and Critical Thinking

My favorite part about teaching is the moment of sudden understanding that you can see in a student's eyes when they've got it. The challenge, of course, is getting to that moment, especially in a subject like math or science. While certain subjects may come easier to some people than to others, I do not believe that anyone is "incapable" of understanding and excelling in any field of study. If understanding is lacking, that is only because the student needs to be presented the material in a way that makes sense to them.

I've taught private piano lessons to kids for four years, and having grown up with a lot of homeschooled siblings, I know how to work with children as well as adults, and I love helping people learn. My strongest subject is English. I have a Bachelor's degree in it from the University of Denver, with a 3.9 GPA and distinction in my major. I don't give the answers but, rather, coach the individual to determine the answers on his/her own and then provide the theory as to why the answer is correct.
