I began school as a Biology major for 2 years, so I have a great science background. I love to teach children. I finished my Masters program in December 07 and began teaching at the school I did my internship at, Briarcliff MS. I taught grades 6-8 and filled in for a Special Ed teacher at the end of the year. Also during that time I tutored a group of 6 graders in Math.
I don't think there is anything better than the feeling of helping a child learn. Every student have the ability to learn, we have to adapt our teaching styles so that all students can understand. I began teaching as a college sophomore at MIT. For 9 years, I taught primarily Multivariable Calculus, but also single-variable Calculus, Linear Algebra, and several writing courses. I think it is more important to understand the student than to understand the material. Don't get me wrong - as a teacher I always re-educate myself to the material if need be - but I feel my real strength as an educator lies in finding a new way to teach the same concept. If a student is failing to learn, it is less often the material itself and more often the way it is being presented.
