Ex-classroom school teacher with 10 years plus experience!

My teaching style is one that always tries to relate to the child and to have fun. Does the child enjoy video games, dinosaurs, soccer, dance, or a particular cartoon character? When I discover what it is the child enjoys, I bring that element into the subject we are learning about. If the child likes soccer and struggles in reading, I research about famous soccer players and find books on them. Perhaps, at the end of a teaching session, we go outside and kick the soccer ball for 5 minutes as a source of inspiration to get work completed. Bringing in other ways of learning through play and games is also something I enjoy. Playing simple math games or reading games is a easy way to teach a child, without them realizing they are learning.

English ESOL is one of my top subjects! I love working with people from other countries, and it is very exciting for me to see them become more comfortable communicating in English.

My teaching style is very conversational. I try to make sure that the student understands the subject matter and has plenty of opportunity to practice what he/she has learned.
I was born and raised in Germany and have always had a love for languages. Teaching others how to communicate in a new language is a fascinating experience that can be life-changing! When I lived in Germany, I taught English, and now that I'm in the U.S., I enjoy teaching German. I currently teach a beginners' German class in Dallas and work with tutoring students of all ages. More About This Tutor...

I tutored all subjects - especially in Math all through High School. I also tutored in college. I have strong skills in Math - all levels - but I especially enjoy algebra. I have two children and I basically taught my oldest son math, since he was a different kind of learner than the way they teach at school. He is a very kinesthetic type learner and needs to see, feel and touch to understand the concepts - so I used a lot of tools to help him. I can tutor math and science exceptionally well and other subjects for the younger levels.
I enjoy teaching when there is a bit of a challenge getting the student to understand the concept. As I have mentioned, I can use different styles to help the student get the concept. I have a great deal of patience and believe that everyone can learn. I enjoy the way someone looks after they have understood and mastered an idea.
