A Little Bit About Me...

I think tutoring students involves a lot of different techniques, considering students learn different ways. I found being patient is probably one of the most important parts of teaching. I worked with probably the hardest age group, freshmen. I learned that repetition was a great way to get them to learn. In math I would have them do the same type of problems with different numbers numerous times. This technique really worked and I was able to teach anybody. It made me feel good when students would tell me “thank you, I thought I would never learn that”. That gave me great self satisfaction knowing I made a difference in this person’s life. During my time as a graduate student, I was a teacher of College Algebra, Trigonometry, and of Calculus. As a teacher, I try to understand the student's mind in order to present the material in such a way that it will fit together with the student's preexisting knowledge.
