As a lifelong learner I understand the importance of an effective teacher. I have been teaching and assisting college level classes for 2 years as a Graduate Teaching Assistant. During this time I have taught 6 classes consisting of introductory microbiology, microbial genetics and general biology. This experience has allowed me to develop my own teaching style and led to a greater understanding of both sides of the teacher-student dynamic.
I believe the best way to learn is to ask questions. The best thought process begins with asking the right questions. I have ten years of experience working with youth. My involvement began in 1997 as a volunteer youth leader at a local high school. After a year I worked three summers as a youth counselor and program director at a youth camp. I received my B.S. in Mathematics in 2001 and have been teaching since. I have taught all math levels from Pre-Algebra through A.P. Calculus with great success. After two years of teaching I was promoted to math department chair of my past and current school. At the outset of the personal computer revolution I sold and supported Tandy computers. As part of the support function I instructed clients in the use of their computers. A whole new world blossomed for me. Teaching clients to use their computers turned out to be a long term and very rewarding experience. During my thirteen years as The Computer Tutor I encountered a multitude of student learning difficulties.
