My teaching style is one in which I strive to engage students in the subject by both instructing and challenging them to think on their own. My style of teaching is entirely dependent upon the needs of each student. My abilities and skills are highly adaptable to the needs each student faces. I believe that each student has a certain type of intelligence. Some will be gifted in art or music or visual learning or learning by repetition, and I consider it my responsibility to find out how each student learns, and then try to teach using their innate intelligence. I believe the first thing you need to do is to find out what the student needs help with. At times I have used music, poetry, or computer programs to get the students attention. Repetition is very helpful and note cards are good for memorization. Taking notes is a good way for the student to stay focused. A little comedy helps too to help students to remember. I enjoy helping students, adult or younger, feel the success of learning. Sometimes it is a struggle, but it is always fulfilling to see the relief and happiness they feel when they do succeed. I have worked with adults. I prefer a one on one direct instruction and mentoring, keeping everything simple and fun. I am not sure how well I would be with children; I have none of my own and have not spent much time with my nephews and nieces.
