Experience Summary
In order to achieve the knowledge necessary to teach secondary level students reading and writing skills I have been driven to achieve a Masters degree in Secondary Education with an emphasis in Secondary English. Through extensive research of learning strategies for both English speaking and English Language Learners, I have gained knowledge of the best techniques for learning English Language skills. As a substitute teacher and student teacher, I have gained experience in both tutoring and classroom teaching in order to be able to teach my students the diverse techniques they need to excel in both basic reading and writing skills.
Teaching Style
I have found through my most recent teaching and tutoring opportunities that all children have the capability to learn. Some just need that one-on-one assistance in order to succeed. I believe in hands-on learning that provides students of all learning styles with the opportunity to excel. I also believe in discussion as another means of learning through the method of Socratic questioning for all levels of English learning. I am eager to provide the means for each of my students to be able to not only learn to read and write effectively, but to also be able to use critical thinking in all subjects and levels of learning.
