Inspired Educational Help!

I first want to start out by saying that I have a passion for what I do. I have over seven years of experience as a tutor and mentor and it has been a very rewarding experience. I am currently a Secondary/Special Education Graduate student and am enjoying the process of learning more about the field. I received a BBA in Accounting and History in 2009, so I also have a background in Business. I will always be glad and willing to tutor in any class dealing with Business as well.
I consider myself a very patient tutor, which I think is essential to the process. That said, I usually offer the student a few options in which to learn the material. I then let them decide which option makes the most sense to them. I believe Education and learning is a very personal process, which is why it should be tailored to each individual differently. *I am available to help with homeschooling stu ... read more

Recently Retired Teacher with 31 Years of Experience

My passion is to teach, although retired, I will, always be a teacher, and that is why I want to teach. Due to the experiences I have had, I have become very proficient in my field. I will tutor or teach, by developing an individual learning plan, which begins with informal assessment, establishing, tangible learning goals, and targets implementation, and then, concludes with a final assessment to make sure benchmarks were reached. The parent and students will be assisting the tutor with designing and implementing the course of action to be taken. My philosophy is that success is based on hard work and commitment. I will help your child with homework and projects, and will give some informal practice on various skills to complete in between sessions. Regular study sessions are important to obtain success. Parent will receive, either, a verbal or written report at the end of each session, ... read more

When I substitute for a teacher, I want to see a lesson plan. I do not want to be the classroom babysitter. If there is no plan for the day I involve the students in making one. I'm currently working on obtaining my teaching certificate, to go along with my bachelors degree in Social Science. Hopefully, I will be able to go on to receive my Masters in Education. I have been able to tutor students in reading, sentence structure, English and American history.
I love teaching and interacting with today's young kids. They fascinate me. Every child has different learning systems and sometimes it takes several tries to reach that special spot that opens the child's eyes to what excites them about learning. The thrill that I feel when that point is found and theirs, (And my, excitement,)grows. There is no feeling in the world like that!

A Little Bit About Me...

I love teaching, but more than anything I enjoy trying to figure out how to teach a child. Every child learns differently and I think its important to incorporate their personal interests. I enjoy setting attainable goals, with the students, and attaching rewards when they reach them.
As I began college, experience working with children also began. I started out in childcare facilities, with children 6 weeks to 12 years of age, and also in after school care working with preschool-3rd grade students. I continued with both jobs and gained more experience through field work. Upon graduation, I substitute taught in the middle school grades, with a long term position in Math. Over the past three years I have spent it working with students with disabilities such as cognitive, behavioral, emotional, autism, and traumatic brain injury.

I believe that it's important to understand students' learning styles, and try to teach in a manner that "taps" into the various styles. I truly enjoy working with children! It gives me great worth and value in enriching the lives of the children I come in contact with. Building the self esteem in children, and developing rapport with my students has proven to give me an upper hand in achieving growth in the academic areas I tutor. I firmly believe in meeting the child where they are at and growing from there. I also believe in making learning fun! The tutoring experience should NOT be one of drudgery! When children feel they are cared for no matter their shortcomings, they succeed. When learning is made enjoyable, they succeed. That is why I know I make a difference in the lives of my young students: I become not only a tutor, but also a mentor, a friend!
