A Little Bit About Me...

While at Wayne State University, I studied Geography, Urban Studies and the Italian language. When I graduated, I held a BA in Geography with minors in Urban Studies and Italian. During my education at Wayne, as I gained a good knowledge of the Italian language, I started to tutor lower-level students. In the end, I tutored Italian for one and a half years.
I am a very easy-going individual; I don't like to push too much but am encouraging. The way I think teaching Italian works best is to make associations with the English language. The two languages are so heavily intertwined, but not at face value. After learning Italian, my knowledge of English is much more profound. Tutoring is very rewarding to me and making a difference in someone's life is important.

I love teaching. I feel children learn differently .Some children are visual while other children are lecture oriented. I have many ways of teaching, but I feel actual interaction works the best. I also feel that an approach to the big picture of how the material fits into the everyday life situations helps. My teaching style is not easily defined as each student learns differently. To be an effective teacher I must adapt to the learning style of each student and address their needs accordingly. Although, I do not possess a definite teaching style I do have a specific set of guidelines or practices that I implement in the teaching/tutoring process. I find that many people lack confidence, particularly in math. I try to build confidence in the student so that he or she will have faith in their learning ability, both now and in the future.
