My comments on tutoring Earth Science : I have experience in tutoring in this subject.

With over 20 years of tutoring experience, I am able to help with many subjects and all ages. I have worked with students from kindergarten through college in many subjects. I have also tutored adults, worked with home-school children, and tutored in different test formats. Study skills is another area of experience.
I teach with the learning style of the student. I am able to change things up when I see the student losing interest. My manner is calm and patient.

A Little Bit About Me...

I believe knowledge and success go hand-in-hand. That’s one of the main reasons I enjoy teaching and tutoring students of all ages. I’m grateful for the people in my life that have taken the time to teach and show me various things. I enjoy doing the same, passing along any knowledge that I’ve gained because information should be shared. I try to structure my teaching style to be a bit informal, so the student feels comfortable learning and asking questions. I also try to structure my teaching around the students learning style so that they can get the most out of the session. Lastly, I try to show any tricks for remembering certain information that either I was taught by my own professors or that I came up with during my own studies.
I graduate May 2009 from Simmons College with a BS in Biochemistry. My courses taken during my undergraduate career were heavily focused in th ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

My teaching style varies with the needs of the student. Each child learns differently and I teach to the child's learning style. Some children learn best visually while others are tactile learners etc. I am always warm, patient, and nurturing. I believe in making the child feel comfortable, safe, and respected. My specialty is teaching reading with a strong emphasis on phonetics.
I earned my BA in elementary education in l987 and was employed by the Woburn Public School system from 1988-1995. I taught grades one, two, four, and six with most of my experience being a first grade teacher. My specialty was teaching reading using a strong phonetic approach. I have been home raising my own children since 1995 and have been a volunteer in their schools for the last ten years.

A Little Bit About Me...

Since my graduation from Simmons College, Boston, MA in 1988, I have worked extensively in the publishing industry as a freelance writer for magazines, newspapers, and guides. Recently, I have become eligible to teach in the state of New Hampshire, and have worked as a Teacher Assistant in the Londonderry School District. I also have been tutoring students in grades 5-12 in reading, writing, and history. In addition, I have worked with younger students in mathematics. I truly love being an educator, and I hope to continue my role as a teacher. I particularly love working with learning disabled students in writing and reading.
My teaching style is based on the belief that children perform well academically when given an opportunity to learn in their own unique way. In particular, I have worked with students with receptive-language difficulties, ADHD, and oppositional behav ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

There is no such thing as an unteachable child. One must teach using a variety of methods in order to reach all learning types. They need to expand, enrich,& build on children's knowledge.Genuine learning is the process of discovery & students must use their mind, not just their memory.Invite & entertain questions by encouraging & sustaining inquiry.Learning is a lifelong process.Teachers provide students with the skills of learning & give the stimulation that will motivate them to keep their minds actively engaged in learning.

As an undergraduate, I was an enthusiastic student and often helped and tutored my peers. I began to tutor "professionally" my second year, teaching chemistry and mathematics to college students. I was chosen by my biochemistry professor to teach chemistry to a high school student who was a daughter of her personal friend. I was also encouraged by one of my professors to become a writing coach, which I never pursued due to the high demand of need for science tutors. After college, I taught as a temporary physics teacher in a public high school in Enosburg, VT. I taught physics, physical science, and AP physics for 4 months on an Emergency Teaching License.
My experiences as a tutor and teacher have taught me enthusiasm and encouragement go a long way in helping a student both tackle and tolerate, if not enjoy, the subject. A few small successes give a student the self esteem to con ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

I've been teaching since I was an 18-year-old Navy Hospital Corpsman in the 1970's. I tutored math, Biology and Chemistry during undergrad and med school and helped friends with the grammar for their research papers. I'm weary of dealing with managed care and am currently a little over than a year away from getting my Masters in Education.
I believe all children want to learn. Sometimes it takes some work to find the spark that ignites the learning process. Unfortunately, a larger classroom may not be the best environment to find that spark in some kids. I've been successful with both children and adults because I have a knack for finding out what motivates them. Once I know something about how a student thinks, I can better come up with concepts that will help her or him understand the subject.

A Little Bit About Me...

I am an extraordinarily dedicated teacher whose enthusiasm is contagious. I love to learn, and I love to inspire and instill the love of learning in my students. I have a cheerful disposition, and while I am quite nice and my students have always enjoyed having me as a teacher, I expect the highest quality of work from all my students. In my experience, believing in the capabilities of youngsters empowers them to strive for excellence and teaches them that they are able to accomplish the goals they set for themselves.
I am a dedicated and enthusiastic teacher who gives her all to her students. Because of my educational and professional background, I have excellent grammar and writing skills. More About This Tutor...

For over three years I worked as a writing tutor for Southern Utah University's Writing Center where I helped students improve both their academic and creative writing. As an undergraduate at SUU, I also taught poetry writing to high school students and facilitated creative writing workshops. I have also tutored students in reading and mathematics. While much of my formal education is in English, I am a student of multiple disciplines. I am currently pursuing a BS in physics and recently completely one year at the University of Utah
As a teacher, I bring passion for both creativity-based and logic-based subjects. I don't subscribe to the right-brain/left-brain paradigm. I believe students can be strong in both mathematics and writing, and it is my desire to help students realize this, because so few people do. My basic tutoring practice is to let the student do most of the ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

I feel I am qualified to be a tutor due to my current and previous teaching experiences in elementary and middle school, as well as, the successful completion of hands-on educational courses in History, Math, Language Arts, and Science from my graduate program. In addition to the course work through my graduate program, I have had several long-term teaching positions in which I gained even more experience in classrooms. Most of my long-term teaching positions allowed me to teach Science, Mathematics, and Language Arts and create numerous hands-on learning experiences. I strongly believe that it is through these hands-on experiences that students are able to grasp specific terminology as well as any other complicated concepts that may be a foundation for learning a given curriculum. In addition to implementing hands-on activities for students, I have completed an Independent Learning ... read more
