I have been driven my entire life to assist others. I started working in the health care industry as a CNA, 1979. I then went to college and obtained my social work degrees. I worked in various settings to include nursing homes, mental health centers, prisons, adolescent group homes and currently home health care, 1987 to 2009. I am currently pursing additional nursing education, so I can combine my knowledge in the social work arena with nursing. Throughout my work history, I was responsible for educational components, with staff, families and communities. Laid back, but encouraging.If a child is struggling, I don't think you should add fear and criticism to the situation. Having had Catholic nuns in all my grammer school days, pretty much put the "fear of God" into me, until I went on to public high school and college. then I was able to relax and embrace english and literature. My BA degree was in Speech & Theatre. Who would have known that a shy kid like me would have excelled in public speaking, english, and theatre. I love the English language, even though I've had classes in French and Spanish. I started school when I was 4 years old (too early), and all my grade school years was challanged with education. Now that I am an adult, I feel that I have the experience to help children understand and find it easier to learn English and grammer, sentence writing, composition writing, essays, etc.
