I have taught classes on aviation related subjects for my Civil Air Patrol. I was homeschooled all the way to the college level, and I remember a lot of subjects in great detail. I have not taught classes at a high school or college. Generally speaking, I have a vast area of knowledge and I know I can help you with your learning needs!
I will ask the student how they learn a subject the best, and help them with their problem by reinforcing basic concepts and then adding on to those concepts. Also, I am a motivator; I will help the student understand that the subject is learnable and maybe even enjoyable to learn!

When a question is asked, I am not going to simply just tell the student the answer. I would want them to think it out and try and figure it out for themselves. I would however guide them in the right direction and even ask them other questions they may know in order for them to figure out the intial problem. I feel that these types of interactions are a more effective way of learning. Also, writing things down helps tremedously because not only are you thinking it, but you're seeing it and reading it as well. I am a very easy person to get along with, and I am also very encouraging. I enjoy helping others whether it's in an academic environment or not.

During my time at Hocking Technical College, I was taking alot of biology related classes such as Botany, Ohio Trees, Aquatic Ecology and many other related classes. I was a tutor for 1 year, teaching students about learining there trees by showing them out in the field and also teaching them latin names for these specific trees. In addition, I tutored students in Aquatic Ecology and used mnemonic devices to aid in memorization of these concepts. While at Appalachian State Universtiy, I would often organize study groups and review concepts regarding geography skills in lab and also in the lecture. I find that students benefit greatly by becoming active participants in the teaching process. I try to develop a curriculum that students help determine, and create lessons that center around topics that interest the students and apply to their lives in a real and practical manner. I try to begin a dialogue with students whenever possible, but also try to know when students would benefit more from direct instruction from their teacher.
