Music lessons in the natural method with Ukulele

I teach in a laid-back, natural method. We like to have fun! I respect all talented, dedicated & accomplished classical musicians and anyone who reads musical notation. I don't teach sheet music or following musical pieces along as if you were reading instructions. I prefer to get blossoming musicians in touch with the natural way to enjoy music and express themselves. We accomplish this with playing by ear, utilizing musical properties and phrases that work together well, and making a connection with the music and its meaning. For the past six years I have been focusing on Hawai'ian music and Hawai'ian culture. A Little Bit About Me...

The guitar has always been my biggest passion, and I have made it my goal to learn as much about it as possible. This search has led me to study classical guitar and music theory formally at the University of Delaware for three years before leaving to study recording in a professional technical environment at the Omega Studios' School. Previously to college, I performed with an original rock group called Society Ills, where I gained experience writing, arranging, recording, and producing our music. I recently have discovered my love for teaching and sharing my knowledge of music and my instrument by teaching private students on weekends (I currently have students ages 8-45) and teaching high school students of all skill levels part-time.
