I am studying to be a sign language interpreter and have been in the program at SFCC for 2 years which I am just finishing. There is one more year but I feel that I am fluent enough to help people. I also took sign in my hometown so as of right now I have being doing sign for 5 years. I can carry a conversation with a deaf person no problem.

As a retired Army Officer, I spent my military career coaching, teaching, and mentoring young adults. My profession was military logistics; my passion is education and teaching. I earned a bachelor's degree in Foreign Language and Literature (focus: French and German) and a master's degree in Adult Education. Both enhanced my professional skills and afforded me the opportunity to teach world wide and at the Army Logistics Management College in Fort Lee, VA. I believe students will rise to the level of expectations set for them. I am a bit of a comedian, and I use humor to allay frustration in learning situations. I believe in setting goals and charting a specific path for reaching them, while being flexible enough to alter the path along the way. Praise and positive reinforcement are powerful tools when teaching challenging material, and I use them frequently.
I received a BA in General Business from WSU, and was honored as a Cum Laude graduate. The courses were varied and included a wide array of math application, from supply and demand curves to interest rate calculations. My classmates gave me the nickname "Webster" because I was frequently asked to edit their papers and to tutor them in several different subjects. I love working with teenagers, and watching their faces change when they really GET a concept for the first time!
