My comments on tutoring Earth Science : Perhaps my most enjoyable class since you get to take a good look at all the components that make up our world! In addition, I taught Earth Science as a High School Science Teacher.

I obtained a B.S. in Biology, with a concentration in aquatic science, from Wittenberg University in 2006. During my undergraduate studies, I tutored elementary students in math and science twice a week for two years. After college, I moved into the marine science profession. In August of 2008, I started teaching High School Biology I, Earth and Space Science, and Physical Science to students in Polk County. In addition, after school hours were spent with two students taking AP Biology classes. Both students achieved a 4 or higher on their placement exams. My tutored students reported an increase in their ability to record class notes, study, and take tests. I am an Elementary Education Major at the University of Florida and have helped many students succeed in all subject areas, with a strong focus on Elementary Education. Some subjects that I particularly tutor in include: math, science, english, social studies, and language arts. I also supply a student with supplemental material I feel will help them learn better and at their own, individual pace. For instance, I believe that some students may learn better through visual exercises, and them others may learn through auditory (hearing) exercises. I really enjoy a one on one environment while teaching. A Little Bit About Me...

My teaching style involves a lot of examples and having the student answer the questions on the board. I am able to come up with examples off the top of my head and have the student work through the problem to prevent "dumb" mistakes (such as forgetting a minus sign). I am very patient and allow my students as much time as possible and encourage them to ask whenever they are stuck. I try to show that math can be fun and interesting and that there are applications out in the real world.
I began tutoring math for Stetson University which ranged from Algebra 1 to Calculus 2. I then began tutoring privately and I have tutored lower level math and advanced statistics. I have tutored a student who was failing calculus in class but then they earned the highest possible grade on the standardized test. I also have a degree in mathematics.
