A Little Bit About Me...

I am traditional in my teaching style.I can be non-traditional once I figure out the learning style of the student I work with.
I have been teaching English since 1974. My experience is in teaching learning disabled, accelerated, and students in the middle range. I have taught grades 6-12 along with adult education. I have tutored for the state of Indiana. I have taught literature, traditional grammar, writing, speech during my forty years as a teacher. I have chaired the English department in one of the middle schools where I worked. This is the extent of my experience for this.

After graduating from Indiana University with a BA in English, I taught high school English in East Lansing Michigan from 1988 until 1991. In the fall of 1991, I began work toward a MA in English at the University of New Mexico. Upon earning my MA, I taught English Composition at Grand Valley State University and Albion College. Recurrently, I am a volunteer writing tutor at the Lafayette Adult Resource Academy in Lafayette, Indiana.

I hold a Masters degree in English with a focus in Creative Writing and am currently working on my Master of Fine Arts degree in Poetry at Purdue. A Little Bit About Me...

As a student at Earlham College, a liberal arts institution, I had the opportunity to participate in a wide range of academic experiences. As an English major, I have acquired extensive grammatical skills as a result of writing numerous essays analyzing various types of prose. My study of Spanish was also quite thorough, and during my four years at Earlham I went from being an intermediate speaker to a fluent one. The courses I took within the Spanish Department were excellent, but the semester I spent abroad in Mexico was just as significant, for it immersed me in the language and culture of the Mexican people in a way I had never before experienced.
