I graduated from WTAMU in May of 2009. I started my career in August 2009. I was trained for and have worked as a Math Recovery teacher since being hired. I have always had an interest in teaching ever since I started college. I allow children to be engaged in their studies by providing access to knowledge through discovery. I’m able to do this by being extremely patient and by providing numerous materials. I believe every person can learn the most difficult subjects. When children ask me, “I don’t know what to be when I grow up.” I tell them what is the one thing you think you cant be because of your limitations. Once they answer I tell them that’s what you should be. I want to help your child conquer their limitations. I want them to be the best they can be.

Each student has an individual learning style, and I like to determine ways that each student learns best, and teach to that style. In the classroom, I do not believe in giving the students pointless busywork or worksheets, but rather prefer to include all the students in discussion and peer-led reinforcement of a lesson I presented. I am a creative person, and as such, bring that into my teaching. I participated in the New Jersey Writing Project training, as well as Six Traits Writing curriculum, multi-sensory Alphabetic Phonics, and the Herman Method of phonetic reading instruction.
