I have been working with a dyslexic kid for about 4 months, and I love it. I not only help him comprehend and understand words, numbers, but I also focus on his weaknesses which is math and english. I don' t do the work for him but I help him when he makes a mistake and helps correct it. I teach him new tricks and ways about going at his work. This way he can have maybe an easier way for him to work the same problems.
I like to be one-on-one, or in a small group. That way the person I am working with gets full attention, and isn't in a classroom setting where they don't get the on-on-one help they could use.

Each student has an individual learning style, and I like to determine ways that each student learns best, and teach to that style. In the classroom, I do not believe in giving the students pointless busywork or worksheets, but rather prefer to include all the students in discussion and peer-led reinforcement of a lesson I presented. I am a creative person, and as such, bring that into my teaching. I participated in the New Jersey Writing Project training, as well as Six Traits Writing curriculum, multi-sensory Alphabetic Phonics, and the Herman Method of phonetic reading instruction. Teaching is my passion.
My teaching experience includes elementary, home bound, tutoring, middle school English, and self-contained special education. Later, I began substitute teaching in the English department at Boys Ranch High School, a facility providing care for children who have removed from ... read more

I graduated from Wayland Baptist University. I earned a BS degree in Molecular Biology with a minor in Chemistry. While studying I was highly involved in student organizations that valued pre-college studies to students at various ages. We traveled to different schools from Texas to New Mexico showing students the wonders of science through mathematics, biology, and chemical demonstrations. These demonstrations allowed students to engage the student by visualizations and hands-on activities. I was also engaged in free tutoring to my peers. I have mostly tutored biology and chemistry. My proudest moment as a tutor was when a student came to me in mid-semester with a “F” on biology. After a couple sessions the student but her “F” to a “B.”
I have always had an interest in teaching ever since I started college. I allow children to be engaged in their studies by providing access to kno ... read more
