I believe that people learn in different fashions. For example, I feel that some concepts may be better explained with tangible objects while other concepts are learned better when questioned and discussed. By exploring the different ways of learning we can find what works best for that individual and use that method as a tool for their understanding. I feel, in the past, that many of the peers I tutored not only obtained/recollected more information, but were more comfortable in a quiet, relaxed environment. By providing this, it sets the foundation for them to focus on the task at hand. Having attended higher learning institutions for over 6 years, my drive for more education is apparent. I believe that each child has their own special style of learning in which they succeed the best at. When I tutor students I take the time to get to know each student on an individual basis and as a unique person. I make it a priority to determine their learning style and use that to implement a plan. I try and understand the reason they are having problems in their studies and then execute a plan in which they can succeed. I create study guides, review questions, and sample test questions for the students as well. In addition, a tutor can be a positive role model in student's lives and serve as a mentor and can be a person who the students can count on to answer questions. As a student I enjoyed school and learning and therefore went on after high school to obtain a B.S in Biology. I have always enjoyed science, math, and writing and enjoy helping others in these subjects as well
