I started teaching in 1970 as a K-8 substitute, continuing until being hired by a private school in 1975. I then taught full time in East LA. Upon moving to Wa. and being certified here, I taught in several schools in differing cultural settings untill recently starting my own business in Newport. I have also tutored and graded math praxis. I enjoy working with children and get a kick from seeing a discovery or understanding in a students eyes. I've had the opportunity to collect numerous bio. samples for hands on experience. I have also taken workshops in the workings of google earth as a teaching tool along with mapping and watershed principles.I feel I have benn successful in elightening many student's lives.

I am very flexible with my communication style, and can easily and quickly assess and tailor my teaching style with whomever I am teaching. I like thinking of sharing knowledge as a mutual endeavor, and less like a one way street. While I may "know" more about a particular subject, it is always refreshing to share knowledge with others who may develop a different, unique, and interesting perspective with the material, as human development and advancement does not happen alone. I firmly believe children often have the best ideas, as they are unhindered by the nay sayers of the adult world, and tend to explore with their imagination and sense of wonder. As one of only 60 graduates in the Biochemistry&Molecular Biophysics program, I have extensive training in mathematics, physical/organic chemistry, and biophysics. In addition to my education and work experience, my teaching style derives primarily from my experience as a High School football coach. Coaching at all levels from middle school to high school has given mea unique perspective on seeing how different students learn and comprehend things. My particular style would most likely be described as a learn by doing approach by finding connections to similar situations and working through them. As an individual with business field experience and a bachelor degree, I have gained a wide array of experience. I have written all forms of papers, documents, and instructions as well as designed statistics, and testing methods. Statistics, Business Acumen, Organization, and a wide range of computer software are my primary skills.

I started my college career at Drake University as a Mass Comunications major. I changed schools and recieved a double major in Business and Economics. I have 3 kids 15,11,10 and have helped them extensively, and all are excellerated students. I enjoy helping kids understand their subjects and obtaining the power to master their learning potential. I enjoy working with children, and believe that all kids have the ability to achieve anything. As long as their mentors can give them an extra boost to understand certain concepts their ability to accomplish their projects and earn exceptional grades are endless. My teaching style is to guide them through the learning process and to make sure they have a firm grip on their subjects when we complete our tutorial.
