Experience Summary
As one of only 60 graduates in the Biochemistry&Molecular Biophysics program, I have extensive training in mathematics, physical/organic chemistry, and biophysics. My double major in Molecular&Cellular Biology couples biological systems and human physiology with the "harder" physical/chemical sciences. With over 5 years experience as a Medical Dosimetrist, I have only recently turned to more creative pursuits. I'm currently a freelance writer, composing print copy, articles, reports, web content, and e books. Most of my direct tutoring experience has been through college(I led many study groups), and through work (training med students), but I have also assisted my son and his friends throughout his (now 6th grade) scholastic career.
Teaching Style
I am very flexible with my communication style, and can easily and quickly assess and tailor my teaching style with whomever I am teaching. I like thinking of sharing knowledge as a mutual endeavor, and less like a one way street. While I may "know" more about a particular subject, it is always refreshing to share knowledge with others who may develop a different, unique, and interesting perspective with the material, as human development and advancement does not happen alone. I firmly believe children often have the best ideas, as they are unhindered by the nay sayers of the adult world, and tend to explore with their imagination and sense of wonder.
