My passion is the arts. I have explored a variety of areas including fibers, painting, drawing, 3-D, mixed media, collage, clay, graphic design, etc. Skills from all academic areas are used in the arts from math to history. An arts educaiton has been proven to increase learning in these areas and raise test scores. I was a K-8 art public education teacher for three years. One of the first graduates of a dual degree program from Lesley College(www.lesley.edu),I received a BS/MEd in Early Childhood Education specializing in Early Intervention in 1999. Beginning in June of 1999, I raised my three children full-time. During that time, I worked part-time as a Therapeutic Mentor for PSC of Maine(www.provcorp.com). PSC is a behavioral health agency that serves at-risk school-aged children and their families. Soon after arriving in NC in 2008, I obtained my Birth-K teaching lisence and, in 2009, began teaching full-time for the More-at-Four Pre-K program(www.darecountyschoolsonline). A Little Bit About Me...

My B.A.in English from the University of Maine at Augusta, where I graduated magna cum laude, and my participation in the ProLiteracy America program as a Literacy Volunteer was inspired by my life-long love of literature. I have taken courses in Interpersonal Communications, Ethics, and Advanced Technical Communications, all of which expand my purview as a tutor. I am an avid bibliophile and am well acquainted with both American and European literature with an emphasis on Shakespeare.
I have greatly enjoyed my experience as a Substitute Teacher and Literacy Volunteer as I truly enjoy helping others.
