Dyslexia is one of my top subjects! I have a Masters degree in Reading as well as a K through 12 Reading Endorsement. I have also tutored many students at all grade levels including college in Reading. Additionally, I have worked with Dyslexic students. Students need the basic foundation skills before moving on.

It is important to me that all children reach their best potential in whatever grade I am teaching. I have been in the teaching profession for 20 years and each day brings something different. Although, I came from a family of medical and science background, I have always wanted to teach and after 20 years, I am glad to say that I chose this profession. I have brought 2 learning disabled teens into my home to help them graduate High School. Both have gone on to be Certified Welders. A Little Bit About Me...

I love working with a diversity of students. My main goal is to assist students in achieving their academic goals. I modify the curriculum according to their needs. I am very patient, friendly,and enthusiastic. It is quite easy for me to build a trusting relationship with my students. I have worked both in the public and private school settings. I prefer one on one tutoring which is what I did mostly in the private school setting.
I have earned a Bachelor's and Master's Degree in Education. I also have 33 hours beyond my Master's in Curriculum and Instruction. My lastest certificate was achieved a month ago in the Orton-Gillingham Reading, Writing, and Spelling course designed to assist students with these particular learning difficulties. All of these areas come together to work as one complex mechanism, and in order for an individual to be a successful reader they must be successful in all of these areas. An individual must have the skills and compensatory strategies needed to help them master these various components to the reading process.
