Pre-Algebra is one of my top subjects! This and Algebra I are my two strongest areas. I consider "pre-algebra" to be the same as the cumulative middle school course called "8th grade mathematics" as opposed to "math" which I would consider "elementary math." When I got certified to teach in Virginia, this was my focus! The reason: This is the foundation for all math that follows--including Algebra I. If you learn how to problem-solve and other basic skills that enable to you take what you know and apply it in situations that might look slightly or significantly different, it enables you to effectively problem solve as you continue to further your education.
