After receiving a degree in Sociology from a New York State University, I went on to earn a provisional teaching certificate in Biology. I have twenty-one graduate hours in Reading and eleven graduate hours in Early Childhood Education. My previous work experience had me working with families where one adult was in need of a GED. When it comes to teaching or tutoring, I find that it is necessary to craft a pedagogical style that will match the learning style of your student. Each student learns in a different way, whether visually, aurally, kinesthetically, subconsciously, or simply by rote. I find that it is necessary to try each option with all students. I feel that the trouble that many students may have is that they operate differently from the rest of their peers and simply need a different approach to learning material. This allows the students to get a brief introduction to the day’s material before they work in groups on questions about the material.
