I am preparing to graduate in the spring of 2011 from Mississippi State University with a special education degree. I have studies pedagody and methods for two years with a range of experiences in all types of classrooms. I will be a highly qualified teacher in the spring. I have been in a classroom since I was conceived. My parents are high school science teachers. I have studied a variety of subjects, and I have a deep content understanding of math and science. I have tutored college students in anatomy and physiology and college algebra. I am a whole brain power teacher. Most of my experience is with exceptional children from a range intelligence. I am a visual learner and I have found that most other people are too. This means that it is important to understand concepts behind each topic were learning. For example, a topic that I had to explain a couple weeks ago was "renal physiology". I believed it was important for the student to understand that water is re-absorbed in all the spots that aldosterone acts, not just memorize where water is re-absorbed. Although, it is important to learn the skills of repetition also. I like to ask questions after we go over topics to make sure that the student is gaining understanding of the topic. I substituted after graduation and realized I loved teaching. In college I was asked to tutor for my instructors. My classmates came over to my house to study. I graduated Magna Cum Laude from Ole Miss in 99'. I taught 2nd and 5th grade before going to Falkner to teach Special Ed. in grades 9-12. I helped prepare students for state tests.
