A Little Bit About Me...

I have a Bachelors in English from Dominican University. I began A Plus Master Tutoring Center over 4 years ago and was teaching in my home. Now we have expanded to a center in Oak Park and we tutor all ages, from Pre-K to adults. Our subjects range from phonics to algebra. Our teaching styles vary from a 3:1 ratio, which would include up to three students and one tutor, or a 1:1 ratio which would be a private session with a student and a tutor. My comments on tutoring Elementary Study Skills : Taught elementary school, mostly grades 3-6 most of my life in a self contained classroom teaching all subject areas. Excellent teacher with Superior ratings. Use sticky notes, outlining, inquiry method to teach some of these skills.

Taught Grades 3-6 over a 35 year career successfuly with great feedback from students, parents, and administration. Love teaching all subject areas at the elementary school level. Education: BS.ED in English and minor in education; At least 60 hours beyond my Masters in School Administration in various subject areas: Reading, Writing, Math, Animal science.
Prefer to facilitate learning and provide more hands on activities. Try to connect reading with writing as the two subjects are very much intertwined in the skills they take. Great at teaching across the curriculum to help students in subject areas that require reading of nonfiction

The Achievement Centers, our after school tutorial/diagnostic clinic and before and after school care, is available for all ages and subjects. Tutoring and diagnostic testing is available after school, evenings (Monday – Friday) and Saturday mornings. The clinic is available year-round. Our testing clinician and school psychologist offer a Psychoeducational Evaluation to all new students.
