I am very much driven to achieve a level of excellence in education hence my participation this far in the No Child Left Behind program tutoring as an independent contractor. I earned my bachelor degrees, BS in Business Administration Liberal Arts style which enabled me to gain an understanding in many areas of math and science. I believe there is more than one way to accomplish a goal so I am not limited to only one certain teaching style. I will adapt to my client. A client may learn best while sitting and discussing subjects, another client may learn better if the subject can somehow become an activity and still other clients may absorb information a different way. I have never believed in or practiced the lecture as a form of instruction. Rather I apply a program of hands-on repetition, a "walk me through it" approach whereby the student demonstrates what has been retained and understood and where we need to apply some more time. I continually review what has been learned so everything stays current and fresh in the mind. I have found that most students retain more when humor is interjected through the instruction period and how what has been learned is applied to every day life.
