Generally I will try to ask questions to see which specific points a student needs assistance with and make sure they understand the material on a fundamental level. I also believe that practice and hands-on experiences teach the most, so there tends to be an emphasis on working through problems step-by-step than lecturing. Ultimately I am flexible, and can change my style and routine to accommodate the students' needs.
While at the University of Tulsa I have tutored in both math and chemistry, so I have experience with those subjects in particular. Though I received a bachelors in Psychology I was also pre-med, so I was required to take several heavy science courses as well. As such I am also proficient in several biological subjects.

Statistics is one of my top subjects! Have taught Statistics at the university level

Hold a master's degree in Applied Statistics from the University of New Mexico, Albuquerque, NM. I am passionate about the application of statistical methods as an aid to decision making in various fields including healthcare and business related fields. As such, I have spent a great deal of time analyzing and reporting. I possess over 10 years experience in the area of statistical analysis to include tutoring students in the use of various statistical software packages including SAS and SPSS.
My teaching style includes explaining statistical concepts to students in the most down to earth manner and relaing those concepts to real world examples. In addition, I am patient with my students because I am aware that individuals grasp materials/concepts at different speeds. So it is very important to me that the students that I tutor understand the materials being cover and are able to h ... read more

I am eager to awaken the latent genius inherent in you

Even though I have never taught as a certified teacher, my teaching style has been a preeminent tool which had braced my tutoring skills. Indeed, my teaching methodology encompasses ineffable patience, great serenity, exceptional aptitude to break down complex concepts into their infinitesimal aspects and ability to choose a solution pattern that best suits the student, taking into account a rigorous implementation of international rules upon which academicians have concurred. Not only do I believe there is no standard teaching style compatible with every tutee, but I strongly claim an efficient teaching style should be contingent upon the major needs of the student as well. Furthermore, I firmly contend students learn best when theories are related to real-world problems. My ultimate aim is to awaken the latent genius inherent in every student as to redeem his or her academic performanc ... read more

I firmly believe that if a subject seems incomprehensible, nine times out of ten it is the professor and NOT the intelligence of the student. Likewise, I believe lack of effort or motivation also play a significant roll when a student performs poorly. My formula for success is simple, we work through the problems together, and repeat until the student can comfortably complete the problem on their own. The only way to learn is to do, you just need someone to show you how.

Teaching to me is a matter of discovering those small differences in learning style that students may not recognize and having the flexibility to offer a variety of paths to understanding. The goal is conveyance of a particular skill set through whatever means available willingness to offer different approaches of teaching tailored to a particular student's strengths and weaknesses. My goal is to ease students into unfamiliar territories with the expectation of success. I find this especially true with mathematics as many are frustrated with rote teaching mechanisms thus fostering an expectation of failure. Exploring different teaching mechanisms and allowing for various learning styles has been my most effective teaching approach.

I currently have a bachelors degree in sociology with a minor in elementary education. During the past 4 years and working in the early childhood education industry I realized that many teachers were not getting the proper training that they needed to receive to help the children that they are serving. Once I realized this I decided to work on my Master's degree in Early Childhood Education in hopes that i could be an Early Childhood College Professor and teach students the ins and outs of the early childhood industry. While getting my bachelors degree I tutored in subjects such as reading, writing, math, and science as well as art.
I believe that all students learn differently and should be treated as so; with this being said i believe that each student should work at their own pace and should be helped to find strategies that help them learn.

A Little Bit About Me...

My teaching is based on lecture explanation. During teaching/tutoring I encourage my students to ask questions. At the end of the lesson I provide problems related to the related material. Assign homework for next class session.
During my last year of college, I was employed by my university as a science/math tutor. During this year I was able to help students with their science problems of all levels. During my time in college I was involved in reading biomedical research papers.I was able to attract many students interested in the biomedical research field to learn how to read research papers. I was very proud of myself for this due to the high difficulty first year graduate students have reading these papers.

I love working with anyone who is having trouble with mathematics, whether it be a junior high student or an adult who has returned to college. I really do believe that anyone can learn a subject if they put in the effort, and most of the time I have found that once they get over the initial fear of not knowing the subject they do quite well. I try to help boost the confidence of those I work with as much as possible.
I worked for thirteen years in a standard office position. I went back to school to get a degree in Mathematics with the intention of becoming a teacher. With that goal in mind I have taken every opportunity of the past three years to help other students with math. I have tutored every subject in math from elementary algebra to differential equations to various different types of learners. I have a bachelor's degree in acturial science and have studied extensively for acturarial exams. My studies have enabled me to master both higher- and lower-level mathematics and statistics. My background in paid tutoring includes College Algebra, Elementary statistics and statistical methods, but I've also helped classmates understand physics and chemistry classes. These classes came easy to me, and I feel I am a natural fit for tutoring these subjects as well. I don't have any experience teaching in a classroom, yet, but as of Aug. 18 I will begin teaching business statistics at Oklahoma State University part-time, while I work on my master's in statistics.
I love teaching and am comfortable teaching students of all ages. I've learned from tutoring that each student learns in a different way. The great thing about one-on-one or small groups is that the teaching style ... read more

I love working with kids, that is a passion of mine. They are the future and I would like to help us all out by educating them, and showing them the right work ethics. My technique is just showing I care about them. I am a bigger guy (I played football in college) and I usually get the respect of the children just off that point, and then when they see that I care about them and their future, it is usually easy for me to teach them. Especially if they are trying to learn
As a Mechanical Engineering Grad, I am very proficient in math. I have worked with Children with math form 1996 - 2005 through the Boys and Girls Club of Houston.
