I enjoy helping others and have often volunteered my proofreading and editing skills to my friends, family, and classmates. While in college, I took numerous creative writing classes that utilized workshop and group editing techniques. As a result, I have learned how to give constructive criticism and how to help others improve their writing without compromising their own unique style and voice. Through studying adult learning styles, I discovered that studies show utilizing all facets of learning - writing, audio, visual, and hands on - leads to the highest levels of retention. I teach by 1) talking by the student to determine his or her best learning style and 2) utilizing the various methods listed above so that the student can retain the maximum amount of information through his or her best learning style.
