My comments on tutoring Spanish : I'm not currently fluent, but I have lots of experience with Spanish in both classrooms and in cultural settings. I would love to help with a 1st or 2nd year level class.

I am about to complete my first year at IU School of Dentistry. I completed my B.S. in Biology at IPFW with a 4.0 GPA and love learning! Science is my specialty but I enjoy other subjects as well. I have experience so far tutoring college-level genetics, both high school and college-level statistics, assisting a student getting her GED online, as well as teaching organic and general chemistry to a student getting ready to take the DAT. I would love to work with any age, but high school and college level is where my expertise lies.
I am an upbeat and positive person and am willing to adapt to students' needs. I'm willing to work through homework with students, create study plans, review notes or use whatever other methods the student finds helpful.

My undergraduate degree is in French however I took extensive coursework in mathematics and chemistry and have a good understanding of all the sciences. During my undergraduate studies, I tutored other students in science courses and lead a laboratory course. These were rewarding experiences as I watched my peers learn and thrive in academics. While working toward my Masters in Environmental Science I was able to teach the laboratory portion of an introductory course for two years. This allowed me to develop lesson plans, tests and quizzes and lab activities. I love working with teenagers, however, over the last five years I've realized that I much prefer working with them on a small group or one-on-one basis. Especially with a foreign language it is much easier for the student to grasp concepts one-on-one. I am familiar with many websites the student can use to supplement tutoring time too.
I graduated with a BA in Spanish Education in 2005. I then taught in IL for a year at a small school teaching Spanish 2, 3, and 4. I then got accepted at Purdue University as a Spanish Graduate Teaching Assistant. While there I taught 4 semesters of SPAN 102. After grad school I got a job in Fort Wayne, IN teaching Spanish 1 and 2 at a large suburban high school.

A Little Bit About Me...

I enjoy watching children learn and grow. I believe there are different teaching techniques for each individual student. I have come to learn this because of my younger sibling who didn't fit into the mold of a typical public school student. I am a firm believer in trying new things and new approaches.
As a Bowling Green State University student who has studied Communication Disorders I have come across many experiences with children. Communication Disorders not only includes speech, but language as well. I have gained knowledge about how children read and write and why some children may have problems with this.
