My teaching experience includes high school Home Economics and Special Education, elementary third grade, middle school Language Arts, adult reading at Job Corps, preschool, Emotional Handicapped at the elementary level, and substitute teaching. I worked as an evaluator for the state educational competency exams in elementary and high school for three different states and as such graded the language arts/writing/reading sections. I have also tutored on line this past year in reading, language arts and math. I have over 40 hours of graduate work in education and am certified to teach Elementary K-8 and Science and Language Arts at the middle school/junior high level.

I have worked with youth all my life. I managed youth services at a library and was responsible for all programming and special events for youth of all ages as well as programs for struggling, beginning readers and homework assistance in the afternoons. I worked with many schools providing literacy-based activities in their classrooms. As part of my master's course work in elementary education, I studied child development, mathematics, social studies, science and language arts instruction. After all these years, I still love teaching children! Every child has the potential to learn. However, it is the duty of the teacher to discover the child's maximum potential. I am consistent, fair, and firm. While I am firm, I do still believe that children have a greater chance of succeeding if they are comfortable in their environment.
