For the last four years I have been at Cardigan Mountain School, where I taught English, Latin, Homeric Greek, ESL, and Ancient History. I collaborated with the English Dept., providing, via Power Point Lecture Presentations, the historical background to Tennyson’s epic account of the Light Brigade at Balaklava and Shakespeare’s Henry V, and, as part of the eight grade history seminar, I delivered a forty-minute lecture on Hitler and the Holocaust. I always knew I wanted to help people. While working in a pre-school it hit me, I loved working with children and watching them learn and helping them achieve success. It was then that I decided to return to school to become a teacher in elementary education. During my student teaching experience, I learned how to adapt lessons to fit individual student needs, evaluate my instruction and change it where it was necessary. Because I have had to meet the needs of so many different students in so many different environments, I am flexible with teaching methods. A lack of resources overseas drove me to be creative and exercise methods of experiential learning: hands-on and engaged learning. I believe in creating a safe and comfortable learning environment for students, with some room for fun.
