My comments on tutoring Biology : Vocabulary mastery is key to success in Biology. Games and crosswords are the best ways to learn these terms, and they are fun!

I excel at identifying each students strengths, weaknesses, and learning styles. I can quickly adapt or create lessons as needed. Most of my students look forward to our time together, as we have fun, but get our work done.
I homeschooled my three daughters for 10 years, right through high school. All three have gone on to Colllege and have excelled, making the Dean's list. In the work world, two have been highly praised for their writing skills. After homeschooling, I began tutoring. I have over 5 years experience and have tutored elementary, middle school, high school, and college students, as well as adults preparing for exams such as the GED. I love tutoring and mentoring kids, period. It's spiriturally rewarding to me as an adult to have a part in a child's development. I believe every child is special. There's is no doubt in my mind that if a tutor approach is based on patience, quality time and empathy, he or she will be successful and effective. The latter mentioned characteristics has always been viewed by me as the hallmarks of tutoring. I enjoy working with children and understand that everyone has a unique learning style. An effective teacher works with this while exercising patience, care and consideration for students as they guide them to subject mastery. My preferred method of teaching is show and do. I show the technique or concept, and then give the student a chance to practice and demonstrate that they understand. The student learns best when they can find or develop the answer themselves.
