I prepared third grade students for the End of Grade state standardized test, in which my classes did very well. As a teacher in North Carolina, I communicated frequently with parents, worked daily with co-workers to review student data for the purpose of remediation, and differentiated instruction to meet the needs of my diverse students. I helped to prepare students for the demands of a 21st century economy through daily use of technology, collaborative learning groups and hands-on, inquiry based instruction. I have graduated from two major universities and will attend medical school at Nova Southeastern University in August 2011. I have just recently graduated from USF College of Medicine with a Master’s degree in Medical Sciences and hold a degree in Molecular and Cellular Biology from the University of Illinois. I have extensive research experience in bioinformatics from the University of Illinois. After graduating from Virginia Tech in 1973, I decided that I would enter the field of public education. After 6 years of successful and rewarding experiences in secondary education, I decided to return to college and obtain a Masters Degree in Education. Upon receiving my Masters in 1984, I taught at the post secondary level in both Virginia and North Carolina. At the post secondary level, I had the opportunity to teach a wide variety of subjects from Math to Business Administration.

The greatest reward one can achieve is to see the smile on someones face when they have found success in understanding something they felt impossible. I feel that there is no single method to learning, instead it is each individuals character that defines their own learning methods. A Little Bit About Me...

I have been told I have a three dimensional style of training. I teach in a way that every style of student can (eventually) get it. I have taught both children and adults in the various positions I have held through my life (camps, schools, employers and church). Nothing is more exciting than seeing the "light bulb moment" go off on an individual's face!
As the Head Trainer for Order Entry and Customer Service for ten years at J Crew I taught detailed customer service training for new hires. I also implemented and taught the Train the Trainer Program within the Lynchburg, VA Region 2000 community. I created a Remedial Training Program to raise skill levels among associates and taught Telephone Etiquette and motivational training. I also revised the Order Entry Manual to be used for all new hires.
